Texas Department of Public Safety chief Steve McCraw testified before lawmakers in Washington on Wednesday.
He says the majority of people from terrorist sponsored countries are getting into the U.S. along the Texas border.
He pointed to Ahmed Muhammad Dhakane as one of those terrorists.
He asked for asylum at an international crossing in Brownsville in 2008. Halfway through the request, Federal Bureau of Investigation Agents took a closer look at him. They say he was an Al Qaeda terrorist and human smuggler. Dhakane admits to smuggling seven members of Al Qaeda into the U.S.
He’s been sentenced to 10 years behind bars for lying on his asylum application.
The FBI has not said what happened to the terrorists Dhakane smuggled into the U.S. Agents will only say they’ve identified them.
I’m sure those 7 are just a drop in a very large bucket.
Poor obama. He’s done everything possible to placate those silly Republicans regarding border security and immigration reform, all for nothing…. because they’ll never be satisfied!
In El Paso fundraising and pushing the DREAM act, obama spoke about all the things he’d done to placate the other side and how important immigrants are in our history.
In his speech, Obama noted that Intel, Google, Yahoo and eBay were all founded by an immigrant.
Not surprising, since excepting the indigenous peoples, we ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS.
He also showed his customary snark.
“Maybe they’ll need a moat,” Obama said mockingly to laughter from the crowd. “Maybe they’ll want alligators in the moat.”
That would be nice.
Obama also said that the border fence is ‘basically complete’.
But Republicans said Obama wasn’t telling the whole story about border security. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, said Mexican cartels have increased their presence inside the U.S., the data on spillover crime and violence is “underreported” and that between 70 and 90 percent of Texas’ 1,200-mile border with Mexico is still not under operational control.

Even with that half a billion dollars in damage – President Obama and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have denied Texas a disaster declaration. FEMA officials say, even without that designation, the agency has given Texas 25 fire management grants – which reimburse firefighting expenses. The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate.
