<span class="shortcode-typography" style="font-family: 'Droid Serif'; font-size: 22px; color: #000000;">The prezzy now backs gay marriage as well as civil unions for same sex couples.</span>
<blockquote><p>President Barack Obama endorsed the right of same-sex couples to marry on Wednesday, a landmark pronouncement made in light of mounting pressure from gay rights advocates.</p>
<p>Obama became the first U.S. president to back the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry, a reversal from views expressed during the 2008 campaign, when he said he opposed same-sex marriage but favored civil unions as an alternative.</p>
<p>Obama told ABC News that, after reflection, he had &#8220;concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.&#8221;</p>
<p><a href="http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/09/11621156-obama-i-think-same-sex-couples-should-be-able-to-get-married?lite" rel="nofollow">MSNBC</a></p></blockquote>
<p>This shift in thinking couldn&#8217;t have anything to do with at least <a href="http://results.enr.clarityelections.com/NC/36596/80768/en/summary.html" rel="nofollow">20% of North Carolina Democrats choosing NOT to choose obama</a>, could it?</p>
<p>OR the fact that <a href="http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Elections/President/2012/0509/Ouch!-Obama-loses-41-percent-of-W.Va.-primary-vote-to-federal-inmate" rel="nofollow">41% of West Virginia Democrats favored a federal inmate</a> over four more years of obama&#8230;</p>
<p>Maybe it&#8217;s got something to do with some of his top donors, who happen to be gay &#8211; and angry &#8211; <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/top-obama-donors-witholding-money-over-executive-order-punt/2012/05/07/gIQAPKsl8T_blog.html" rel="nofollow">withholding donations</a>.</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s announcement may have its roots in different motivations, but he just made at least some of his problems go away.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-23359" title="willthisgetme" src="http://pamibe.com/wp-content/uploads/willthisgetme.jpg" alt="" width="409" height="315" /></p>
<p><strong>EDIT:</strong></p>
<p>Herein lies the <em><a href="http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/wh-wont-call-repeal-doma/534831" rel="nofollow">problem</a></em> with the One&#8217;s announcement and why it means less than spit: </p>
<blockquote><p>President Obama declared his personal support for same-sex marriage yesterday, but the White House chose not to push for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act today.</p></blockquote>
<p>It will not be a plank. That&#8217;s for <em>&#8220;the party to decide&#8221;</em>.</p>
