This is from earlier in the year but I just saw it at iOTW and blew a head gasket. That 400 mil of the taxpayer’s money is probably gone by now, dammit.

Food deserts. Really?

World-Famous Fashion Icon and Busy Mom Michelle Obama added Earth Mother to her resume recently by digging taters and she’s the only Obama who has stimulated the economy.

I don’t know how she did it wearing this kind of folderol, but kudos to MO!

Forget Anna Wintour or Kate Moss. According to financial analysts, the U.S. First Lady has boosted the economic value of the brands she chooses to wear by $2.7billion (£1.7billion).

The Stern School of Business in New York, which conducted a study into Mrs Obama’s impact on fashion, found that a company’s stock rocketed after she was pictured wearing its designs.

The research, which was published in the Harvard Business Review this week, showed that brands worn by Mrs Obama rose in value by 2.3 per cent, while the rest of the market dropped by 0.4 per cent.

Stern’s Professor David Yermack, who conducted the study, looked at the impact of 189 public appearances between November 2008 and December 2009 in which the U.S. First Lady wore pieces by 29 listed companies.

He cited both High Street and designer brands including Calvin Klein, Nina Ricci, Gap and J.Crew, and estimated that just a single appearance could generate up to $14million for a brand or its stockist.
