1. What’s your favorite color?

I invariably waver day to day on colors… some days I can’t get enough of orange, other days lilac. But green has always been my absolute favorite. I just don’t wear it for some reason.

2. If you get a plane ticket for free to go wherever you’d like – where would your final destination be?

I like what VW said; my final destination would always be home. But on the way could we stop in the UK for a visit to the ancestral stomping grounds?

More~~~>

3. Is there anything in your life you always wanted to do and never had the chance to?

No, I’ve had the chance to do anything I wanted. Just not the money. Not that I have. It shall ever be the roads not taken that we regret…

4. Which one is your favorite movie classic? (Let’s say: Older than 20 years)
That’s difficult, but I’ll say The Philadelphia Story. Also love another Hepburn/Grant called Holiday.

5. If you were blond – would you mind the blonde-jokes (and of course if you ARE blonde – do you mind them?)

Nope. Everybody’s got to be somewhere.

6. What is it that always and 100% certain makes you laugh?

When I answer the phone and it’s my friend Anthony doing lines from The Princess Bride. “MAWWAIGE is what keeps us togedder”.

7. Where do you usually buy your clothes?

Macy’s

8. Does wind bother you or do you like it?

Unless it’s a hurricane, it doesn’t much bother me. Like it? When it was wind through the tall pines on a cool Texas morning. Yep, pretty much only then and now only in my memories.

9. What is it that you dislike about high school reunions?

Never been, so I guess you could say that I dislike going. My 40th high school reunion is coming up in a few short years… now that one could be interesting…

10. Are you a cat or dog person?

While I do like cats and have known a few, I’m really a dog person.

11. Can movies make you cry and if yes – when was the last time you cried in a movie theater or in front of the TV?

Of course! The most crying I ever did over a movie was at a theater after watching The Way We Were! Escaping was a little embarrassing!
Finally saw The Blind Side a couple of nights ago and teared up a little at the end…

I’m going to be a rebel and not tag anyone… but you’re welcome to steal it.

A good band name?

I don’t actually have a tapeworm. Trust me, ol’ Doc Cohen would know. The man’s been through all my hiways and byways; if anything like a worm existed within the various canals, I feel safe in assuming that he would have taken appropriate action.

But. What I do have is an imaginary tapeworm that I blame all my stomach troubles on. A scapegoat, as it were. His imaginary name is Donald and he speaks with an imaginary Scots accent when riled.

No, I have not been smoking Charlie Sheen’s fancy cigarettes.

I’m pretty much a slave to Donald’s various lusts but lately he’s been all about applesauce and cream of wheat. Beats me. Fortunately, along came a meme worthy of his attention:

Here are the rules: “Answer these 10 (I made it go to 11. Yes, it goes to 11) questions by typing your answer into Google image search. Take the number image that corresponds to your question number and use only that image to illustrate your answer. You don’t have to use images you find objectionable but otherwise you must use whatever image comes up, whether you think it makes sense or not. Post the questions and your image answers on your blog.”

Of course, I had to change the rules a bit – instead of just any images chose to use only Far Side comics. AND I left off question 3, for obvious reasons.

1. What was your first job?

A meme from Dave!

I love that he included Bugs Bunny!

Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen fictional characters (television, films, plays, books) who’ve influenced you and / or that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.

Too bad this is fictional; some of the very first that sprang to mind are real; Bernadette Soubirous, Anne Frank, Helen Keller and James Herriot. Maybe next time?

1. Velvet Brown National Velvet. I read the book before watching the movie, but Velvet remained constant throughout both. So very sure of the Pie, Velvet became my heroine at a very young age. When she jumped astride that wild horse, so did I. My first ‘real’ book, I still have it, though it’s falling apart.

2. Hawkeye Pierce from M*A*S*H, the television series. The pacifist who went to war, Hawkeye made me laugh and cry, often at the same time. I love that in a man.

3. Lassie Everyone’s best friend, the perfect dog. There’s been a little Lassie in every Collie I’ve owned…

4. Father Tim From Jan Karon’s Mitford series. The quiet Father led me back to a spiritual life when I’d lost my way. Very simple, yet very powerful.

5. Sylvia Barrett I still read Up The Down Staircase every year, though it’s now so fragile I despair of ever returning it to its original owner. Naive Miss Barrett, with only the best intentions, steps into it… and learns to work around the system to help her students. An everyday heroine, like our own Mrs. Who, Sylvia fights daily battles to win a very important war.

6. Maggie the Cat Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Tennessee Williams and Elizabeth Taylor made for a wonderful mix, for Maggie is Scarlett O’Hara, the girl next door and an avenging angel, all rolled into one. And each time she refers to Mae’s ‘no-necked monsters’ I can’t help but giggle.

7. Atticus Finch To Kill A Mockingbird. Show me a better father or more honorable man! Every time I see a mockingbird I think of the movie and that famous line…

8. Loretta Castorini Moonstruck. Loretta struggles with love and finally wrestles it to the floor and gives it a hickey. Absolutely adore this film.

9. Tootsie or Michael Dorsey. Really. If you want something bad enough, there is always a way…

10. Holly Golightly Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Lost girl, found.
I appreciated Holly’s prescription for the mean reds.

Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there.

11. Beatrice Much Ado About Nothing. Sparring, always. Of course, it’s Emma Thompson’s 1993 version to which I’m referring; it’s one of my favorite movies. Just watched it again last week. Hey, nonny nonny!

12. Claire Fraser Outlander series, Diana Gabaldon. A modern woman thrown into an almost unbelievable situation and time, Claire survives and even flourishes. She’s practical, intelligent and uses her knowledge as a nurse and botanist to stay alive and later to keep her family safe. Claire falls in love with Jamie and they make one perilous journey after another, sometimes alone, but always return to each other. The decisions she makes always come down on the side of love.

13. Sayuri Nitta Memoirs of a Geisha. Sometimes you have no choices. Sayuri remains with me like Kunte Kinte of Roots; they remind me that there are people in chains, whether physical or metaphorical, even today.

14. Jeeves P.G. Wodehouse’s inimitable ‘gentleman’s personal gentleman’ to Bertie Wooster. Jeeves stands alone.

15. James T. Kirk. Star Trek. I know… but it is what it is.

Your result for The Quick & Painless ENNEAGRAM Test…

9 – the Peacemaker

Thanks for taking the test !

you chose BX – your Enneagram type is NINE (aka “The Mediator”)

“I am at peace”

Peacemakers are receptive, good-natured, and supportive. They seek union with others and the world around them.

How to Get Along with Me

• If you want me to do something, how you ask is important. I especially don’t like expectations or pressure.

• I like to listen and to be of service, but don’t take advantage of this.

• Listen until I finish speaking, even though I meander a bit.

• Give me time to finish things and make decisions. It’s OK to nudge me gently and nonjudgmentally.

• Ask me questions to help me get clear.

• Tell me when you like how I look. I’m not averse to flattery.

• Hug me, show physical affection. It opens me up to my feelings.

• I like a good discussion but not a confrontation.

• Let me know you like what I’ve done or said.

• Laugh with me and share in my enjoyment of life.

What I Like About Being a NINE

• being nonjudgmental and accepting

• caring for and being concerned about others

• being able to relax and have a good time

• knowing that most people enjoy my company; I’m easy to be around

• my ability to see many different sides of an issue and to be a good mediator and facilitator

• my heightened awareness of sensations, aesthetics, and the here and now

• being able to go with the flow and feel one with the universe

What’s Hard About Being a NINE

• being judged and misunderstood for being placid and/or indecisive

• being critical of myself for lacking initiative and discipline

• being too sensitive to criticism; taking every raised eyebrow and twitch of the mouth personally

• being confused about what I really want

• caring too much about what others will think of me

• not being listened to or taken seriously

NINEs as Children Often

• feel ignored and that their wants, opinions, and feelings are unimportant

• tune out a lot, especially when others argue

• are “good” children: deny anger or keep it to themselves

NINEs as Parents

• are supportive, kind, and warm

• are sometimes overly permissive or nondirective
