Nesting. Billing. Cooing. Birthing. That sort of thing.

Holiday mode

YsD, John and Liam left this afternoon; these were taken shortly before they pulled out. I had forgotten that going anywhere with a baby is like traveling with a circus; there’s lots of equipment and so much of it looks like fun.

Think he had enough protectors?

I’m still in holiday mode; it was a wonderful Christmas, despite the missing tree. I had so much fun at the party yesterday and last night that I forgot to take pictures! That’s probably a first…

Mike surprised me with two gifts, one a mixer (which I really wanted and was happy to receive, despite its utility designation) and the other a digital frame… with an 8 gig sd card! It’s so cool! He hit one out of the park this year…!

There was some drama, but very little and it all centered around John. The more I know, the more worried I am about YsD. She refuses to even consider giving the new baby up for adoption, but she’s trapped… and she knows it. How she can dismiss her options out of hand is beyond me, but then again… it’s not my life.

It’s nice to have company but it’s really nice to have the house back! I hope holiday mode stays around for a while… it feels good.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!

I’m a horrible step-grandmother.

Tonie just forwarded this cell photo from YsD… I replied: ‘looks familiar; who is it?’.

Duh. It’s wee Liam. He’s grown a little bit, but that’s really no excuse. I’m just horrible with faces.

Nana loves ya, just don’t expect her to remember what you look like… *sigh*

Tonie will say that I helped make this collage for YsD, but she’s really the creative mastermind. The apartment walls were totally bare, so she thought to make this for them.

Wee Liam

O.D. and I have been to the other side of the state and back. Here’s what we saw:

YsD and Liam.

Could you just die from the pinkness?

A strong little man, he lifts his head, rolls over, pushes away from people.

While Liam ate, O.D. basically sucked on his fingers and toes, inhaled the sweet scent off his head and memorized the features of his crinkled face.

So new his toes still look like little sausages.

Little Will came into the world today at 6 lbs, 15 oz and 21.5 inches.
Mother and baby are doing fine.

May God grant William a long and happy life.

May God give you…
for every storm a rainbow,
for every tear a smile,
for every care a promise and
a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
a faithful friend to share,
for every sigh a sweet song and
an answer for each prayer.

Not enough

YsD called to inform us that wee Angus will be delivered by cesarean within the next 2 1/2 weeks. He’s doing very well at 35 weeks and 17″ and is presumably ready to meet the world, but the longer they keep him in utero, the more dangerous for YsD.

They have a car seat, little crib and a few receiving blankets. So, since we’re not going over until after he’s born, I thought I’d ship some basic necessities over now…. caps, onesies, socks, blankets… just stuff to get her started.

But since I told OD about her sister’s lack, the woman is gathering up mounds of stuff to take over. I want to both slap a Sucker! sticker on her forehead… and applaud her supportive gesture.

But it’s not enough. In a few months, wee Angus will need more. More clothes, toys, food, diapers. That will be the tipping point. Will the state of Florida keep both mother and child alive and well? Questions like this invade my dreams. Last night YsD had had her baby; they were living in the monkey house at Metrozoo where tourists threw peanuts at them.

On a somewhat related note: Would the Russian alien that YsD married for a few rubles five years ago have any claim to the baby… should that person ever show up again? Just wondering.
