One slapped me upside the head about a month ago and like the iguana Bree stepped on yesterday, that bitch was angry. Had to do with the way I perceived people and how I, by putting them on a pedestal, had set them up to fail. And when they were discovered as merely human my head hurt and I was disappointed. I’ve discovered that my mother, God rest her soul, was a complicated woman. It’s a damn shame kids can’t understand and appreciate their parents while they’re still young. I miss Mama and it pains me to remember all the times I tried to get away from her, sometimes simply to boomerang back but too often succeeding. I still want to sit in her lap when I’m sick and rest my head against her bosom.
