NOI seeks reparations from Jews

June 30, 2010

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has written more than a dozen U.S. Jewish groups seeking “repair of my people from the damage” he claims Jews have caused blacks for centuries.
As usual, he is provoking a group for no reason except to stir NOI members into a frenzy of hate. Like that pot needs stirring.

Farrakhan sent the letter along with two books from the Nation of Islam Historical Research Team that the 77-year-old minister said prove “an undeniable record of Jewish Anti-Black behavior,” starting with the slave trade and Jim Crow laws.

“We could charge you with being the most deceitful so-called friend, while your history with us shows you have been our worst enemy,” he wrote.

While similar in theory, I would say that Islam and Judaism [and thus Christianity] are diametrically opposed in practice.

Farrakhan maintains he is ‘seeking a dialogue’ with Jews.

“This is an offer asking you and the gentiles whom you influence to help me in the repair of my people from the damage that has been done by your ancestors to mine,” he writes. “Your present reality is sitting on top of the world in power, with riches and influences, while the masses of my people … are in the worst condition of any member of the human family.”

Where does he get this shit? Brainwashing?
If this is true, then his ‘masses’ of people need to lift themselves up out of poverty like everyone else. Or remain there, but sitting in your own shit and holding your hand out do not endear you to the rest of the world.

This is not new behavior for Farrakhan, but given the changing climate I’m guessing he feels freer to express himself now than at any other time. And that should give us pause to consider… why now? Because our president is anti-Israel and pro-arab?

Jason Laguna’s rosary

If there was ever a time to draw that proverbial line in the sand, it should be done now, with Jason Laguna’s rosary.

Ninth grader Jason was the victim of an unwritten policy; the former Altar boy was suspended for taking his rosary to school. According to the Principal, his rosary “endangered the safety, health, morals or welfare of himself or others.”

Jason Laguna is a former altar boy and proud Catholic. He got his rosary beads as a gift, thinks they look cool and sometimes wears them under his shirt at school. But last Friday, right before dismissal, he pulled them out on his way out. He was given a one-day suspension from Fieldstone Secondary School.

His mother calls the punishment extreme, considering the 14-year-old is a member of student government and, according to his last report card, “is a pleasure to have in class.” Laguna says she was told the school has an unwritten policy regarding beads because they could be used to show gang affiliation. The principal claims it was insubordination, saying Laguna’s actions, “endangered the safety, health, morals or welfare of himself or others.” Jason was supposed to stay home Friday, but late Thursday the district superintendent put that on hold pending further investigation. It may not be divine intervention, but his mother has contacted the American Civil Liberties Union as she continues to fight the suspension.

Jason’s mother putting out an S.O.S. to the ACLU is a move laced with irony….

Nancy Pelosi wants Catholic clergy to push immigration reform to their parishioners from the pulpit…

Separation of church and state is rammed down our throats… unless they want to USE religion for their means.
Frankly, I’m amazed she’s not asking them to put forth her radical abortion agenda, as well.

Vatican funding adult stem cell research

This news may raise a few eyebrows but as The Anchoress says: You would only expect the Catholic Church to be “the last organization” to fund stem cell research if you were getting your news from bigtime-professional-new outfits and Democrat political campaigns.

Amen.

Vatican, University of Maryland enter stem cell research partnership

With the financial backing of the Vatican, University of Maryland researchers will lead an international group of scientists to study adult stem cells from the intestines with the hope of discovering treatments for diseases while bypassing the ethical debates that have embroiled such research for a decade.

The partnership, known as the International Intestinal Stem Cell Consortium, brings together researchers from the Center for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Maryland; the University of Salerno, Bambino Gesu — an Italian children’s hospital; and the Istituto Superiore di Sanita — the Italian equivalent of the National Institutes of Health.

This is not the first time the Roman Catholic Church has funded stem cell research, said Richard Doerflinger, associate director of pro-life activities at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Catholic dioceses in South Korea and Australia have supported adult stem cell research with grant money, he said.

“The Vatican has been very interested in adult stem cell research for many years,” he said. “I think it’s a logical outgrowth of the church’s interest in this field and of promoting ethically sound and beneficial stem cell research.”

The exact amount of the grant is being determined, but University of Maryland researchers said the Vatican agreed to fund $2.7 million, which will go directly to the University of Salerno’s Medical School Foundation to be distributed to the project partners.

Maryland researchers say the Vatican award shows the Catholic Church stands behind scientific research while supporting a type of stem cell study that holds great possibilities.

But it is also clear that the Vatican encourages the research because it does not involve embryonic stem cells, which the Catholic Church and religious conservatives have long opposed because such study involves destroying embryos.

Bishops push ‘Green’ Lent

I think I’m going to be sick…

Give up your iPod for Lent, bishops urge

LONDON (Reuters) – British church leaders are encouraging people to give up their iPods for Lent, instead of more traditional vices such as chocolate, to help save the planet.

The Bishop of London, Richard Chartres, and the Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones, are among those calling for a carbon fast for Lent — a period ahead of Easter which Christians traditionally consider a time of penance and reflection — which begins on Wednesday.

As well as spending a day without using technology such as mobile phones or iPods, the 46 daily suggestions also include eating by candlelight, cutting meat and vegetables thinner so they cook faster and flushing the toilet less often.

Instead of giving up chocolate for Lent, why not fast for justice … to help those suffering from the effects of climate change,” said Jones.
