Pro forma for the mainstream media – print what you want heard/read, leave the rest out. AP did just that with a speech by Rick Perry, conveniently omitting some parts.
This is what the AP reported:
“No, I don’t support a fence on the border,” he said. “The fact is, it’s 1,200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso. Two things: How long you think it would take to build that? And then if you build a 30-foot wall from El Paso to Brownsville, the 35-foot ladder business gets real good.”
And this is what Perry said:
“No, I don’t support a fence on the border,” he said, while referring to the long border in Texas alone. “The fact is, it’s 1,200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso. Two things: How long you think it would take to build that? And then if you build a 30-foot wall from El Paso to Brownsville, the 35-foot ladder business gets real good.”
Instead, Perry said he supported “strategic fencing” and National Guard troops to prevent illegal immigration and violence from Mexican drug cartels.
The AP deleleted the part of Perry’s speech that including using “strategic fencing” and National Guard troops on the border. Via Gateway Pundit
While we’re on the subject of our southern border… Peter makes some excellent points in his post Water Does Not Flow Uphill.
“You see the border with Mexico in Texas is along the Rio Grande. That, dear readers, is a river. You can’t build a big wall along a river where everyone down there has their livestock drinking. Nor do irrigation ditches do real well going over walls. I think I remember something about water not flowing uphill real well. I do believe they used to teach that in schools.”
Go read the rest, because Peter’s got Perry’s ideas listed and they’re sound.
So, I saw this story at Gateway Pundit wherein George Clooney gushes about obama. Shortly thereafter I made a silly graphic. THEN I followed the source link from Gateway to a Palestinian blog. Date on the story was 2008. Yes, we heard this already. I should have remembered, since my undying love light for Clooney flickered quite a bit upon hearing of his cloying worship of the one.
Unfortunately, I’d already done a graphic… for an old non-story.
The funny thing – and no links, sorry; it’s an old non-story. Hell with that!
Anyway, the Washington Times also carried the old/non-story, without a source [that I found]. And Big Hollywood just jumped on the bandwagon, citing the Washington Times piece as the source.
A quick look at my reader tells me that this old/non-story is making the rounds. Again. Like ducks jumping on a fat juicy junebug. How many take the time to look for, verify and cite the source?
ANYway, here’s the lame graphic I did. May as well post it, eh?
Great time for this to hit… again… when obama’s numbers are in the toilet? Ahh….
I suppose it’s good that the MSM is willing to post a story like this, but I have to wonder why we haven’t been hearing more personal stories like this in the news.
As for this couple? They have unemployment and student loans to live on. Try living on nothing if you want to know what stress is.
And where’s the Union she worked for in all of this? Oh yeah, demanding her dues while there are no jobs, and demanding that Union workers not take non-Union jobs.
Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who took office in December, told Honolulu’s Star-Advertiser on Tuesday that “our investigation” indicates there is a recording of his birth.
“It actually exists in the archives, written down,” he said.
I’m not a “birther”, but why in the hell should we take it on faith that public officials who will not simply provide proof of eligibility are in fact eligible to hold the office of President of the US?
To get a Florida driver’s license I have to provide an original birth certificate, a SS card, two pieces of mail with a Florida address and god knows what else. And yet we should take it on faith that Obama is eligible simply because Neil Abercrombie (another public SERVANT) says it’s so.
Come On Down To Neil and Bob's Used Cars For A Great Deal!
And I’m really not digging the liberal bias in that news story. Can you say the NY Daily News is Obama’s bitch?
I thought you could…
This is Erinyes’ post, but I have to add this… from Sad Hill News…
I have to tell you, the more the msm yanks Sarah back into the spotlight for the purpose of nailing her to that cross, the more I like her. And the more they pull her chain, the more determined she seems.
The message is… she’s not going away simply because the left loathes her. Bet every time she quotes scripture another nut scribbles out a death threat…
Squirming like his piles are pressing on his brain, Tom says he’d be “nervous about going into a bar or restaurant in Arizona on a Saturday night because people can carry concealed without permits”.
You don’t know who is carrying where or when, Tom. Everywhere you go, people have guns. Let that percolate a little bit then decide where your next safe room is going to be, ya big weenie.
For all those wackjob birthers captured on film wearing frilly lady blouses and triangle hats, there were thousands of ordinary people just living their lives, being regular, and not liking how their Republican Party had turned out. And even though Tea Party members tend to skew toward older, middle-class white guys, their overall demographics aren’t that far from the rest of the country. Of course, regular people are about as riveting as dry toast, so they didn’t get much screen time. Which is why it came as such a shock to everyone when 32 percent of Tea Party-affiliated candidates won their elections.
Damned straight. As one who has attended several Tea Party gatherings, I found the average person I spoke with and observed at these rallies to be quite normal, just plain sick and tired of being almost literally taxed to death.
I have watched with increasing ire as the media has painted this movement as one infused with nothing but morons and ignorant rednecks, and I have to wonder why more people on the Democrat side are perfectly happy with our government taxing them into oblivion while they struggle to make ends meet, especially as we hear more and more about how are money is being wasted on fat cat politicians, pork-barrel spending and undeserved entitlements.
I hope Florida offers this plate soon. I’ll be one of the first to get one.
I remember Tamitha Freemen. Harvey says: “She’s got beautiful puppies”.
"Lord, keep our servicemen and women safe, whether they serve at home or overseas. Hold them and their families in your loving hands and protect them as they protect us."
