I laughed out loud at Cher’s tweet[s]. More of the hate can be seen at Twitchy.
It doesn’t matter who is running on the Republican ticket, there is no capacity, ability or, God forbid, desire to discern any information about the candidate; he’s simply the devil incarnate and the celeb in question suddenly cannot breathe the same air/live in the same country/yada, yada, yada… even though they’ve been doing so for years.
It’s being reported that Davy has died of a heart attack here in Florida.
I was 10 when the Monkees hit television and of course I loved them… except the tall one. Along with Donny Osmond and Bobby Sherman and…. so many names most people wouldn’t recognize in 2012… They were the Biebers of their day.
One of my favorite performances of his is the cameo on the Brady Bunch Movie in ’95…
Clint Eastwood’s ‘Halftime in America’ ad for Chrysler seems to have stirred up more than the intended patriotism. Or politics. Or was it really about selling cars?
Though Clint curled his ancient lip at claims that the video was political, others have run with it.
I rather like Rush’s version:
The brilliant Iowahawk has stepped in with his own interpretation and as usual it’s a thing of beauty…
Just a teaser…
Sure, I’ve seen a lot of tough eras, a lot of downturns in my life. I was in ‘Every Which Way But Loose,’ for crissakes. There were times when we didn’t understand each other, because you complained that I sounded like an emphezema victim who gargled with Grape Nuts. The fog of division, discord, and blame made it hard to see what lies ahead, no matter how hard I squinted.
As you probably know by now, Hank Williams Jr made an Obama/Hitler analogy [actually, he did not compare Obama to Hitler, it was an 'opposites' analogy] while appearing on Fox & Friends earlier in the week. The Friends immediately appeared taken aback and immediately ‘disavowed’ his statement.
As a result of speaking his mind, ESPN ended their 20 year relationship with Williams and the Anti-Defamation League demanded an apology:
“The Holocaust was a singular event in human history, and it is an insult to the memory of the millions who died as a result of Hitler’s plan of mass extermination to compare the Nazi dictator to any American president,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL national director and a Holocaust survivor.
“Hank Williams Jr. should know better. He owes an apology to Holocaust survivors, their families, and the brave American soldiers who gave of themselves to fight the Nazi menace during World War II. The last thing we need is to enter another election cycle on a sour note tainted with inappropriate, tired and over-the-top analogies to the Nazis,” he said.
Aware that his comments had dropped his nether regions into the fire, Williams has apologized to ‘any and all’ who may have been offended:
(CNN) — Hank Williams Jr. apologized Tuesday for comparing President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler, a remark that prompted controversy and resulted in “Monday Night Football” pulling his popular musical introduction from this week’s game.
His statement Tuesday went beyond his Monday statement, in which he said “my analogy was extreme — but it was to make a point.”
On Tuesday, the country singer stated: “I have always been very passionate about politics and sports and this time it got the best or worst of me.
“The thought of the leaders of both parties jukin’ [sic] and high fiven’ [sic] on a golf course, while so many families are struggling to get by, simply made me boil over and make a dumb statement, and I am very sorry if it offended anyone. I would like to thank all my supporters. This was not written by some publicist,” Williams wrote.
Where were these people when the name of Bush was synonymous with Hitler’s to the entire WORLD and nobody gave a shit??
I’m afraid that I agree with Jon Stewart on this one; this is fucking Hank Williams Jr, people… not the sugar plum fairy.
The ‘Friends’ asked for his opinion, he gave it, and suddenly he’s a monster. Bullshit. A country boy can – and will – survive and with no help from hypocrites.
IMUS on ‘Fox and Fiends’ throwing Hank under the bus:
I remember Tamitha Freemen. Harvey says: “She’s got beautiful puppies”.
"Lord, keep our servicemen and women safe, whether they serve at home or overseas. Hold them and their families in your loving hands and protect them as they protect us."
