And… now that I’ve had a chance to really play around with Lightroom… wow. It’s incredibly powerful.

And Badger is just the opposite.

I tried to learn how to use the Canon yesterday, going through documentation and instructional videos. Upon reaching the section pertaining to quality I went out and shot in RAW format.

Which was fine.

Until it came time to look at the RAW images I’d transferred over to my computer… Only a slight hiccup… My PC pretended to not know what they were, as did all my photo-editing programs.

Fast forward to 20 different downloaded codecs later… and Windows finally saw them. Turns out since they’re Canon, they’re different from a regular RAW; they’re ‘camera RAW’, CR2. Whatever. The quality was phenomenal, but my Adobe software turned up its nose at them. Turns out… and you’re going to love this… turns out Adobe only updates codecs for its latest version of software… so if I wanted to be able to import them into the program for editing, I’d have to upgrade. Well, my software is so old it could vote, so that means no upgrade; full price.

Not happening.

I did download a test version of Lightroom 4 and that’s how I was able to edit the two images above. It’s pretty cool in that it has all the codecs for all formats built in… along with filters for individual cameras and lenses. Lightroom will cease to function after 30 days, so I’ll enjoy it and then switch to JPG…. unless I come up with 150. Like Daisy, I’m skeptical.

Oh, the quality of the images themselves are awesome with RAW. Notice I didn’t claim the same for anything I can directly influence… although gingerly moving some of the settings and shooting in full sun didn’t blow everything out. For once.

About once a month I revert to a more primitive state as well; I take a day off ‘life’. That day was yesterday. Oh, I took care of the dogs and made myself a big bucket o’ guacamole, but that’s as far as I was prepared to go. No treadmill, no laundry, no meal prep, no cleaning anything, no errands, no yard work. The man was on his own and I may as well have been five again, playing at whatever struck my fancy.

I highly recommend taking your inner child out for an airing at least once a month. Otherwise, she might suffocate…

Last year we had two sugar apples total and those were near the end of the season. We’ll have a bumper crop this year, though, because the tree is covered with little babies!

Oh, c’mon. You knew it was inevitable…

While going through Angel’s paperwork I found something interesting: an original AKC registration form. The form from breeder to puppy buyer; it had never been filled in. She wasn’t named or registered.

Now, I wasn’t really concerned with transferring her AKC registration. I never did it with Daisy. But it’s like she’s a puppy. It’s a clean slate. I must write on it.

I’m thinking Honey Badger something… but plain Honey Badger is probably already taken… Ideas?

Short story even shorter, Honey B. is on painkillers and muscle relaxers. If she’s not yards better by Saturday, we go to steroids.

By the way, Peter says howdy! Linda Lou is still in the hospital after a successful knee replacement and she has the laptop that… works, I guess. He’ll be back when his lovely bride returns home. Then after she has the other knee done they can go dancing. Well, I’d like to think so, anyway.

She’s still having intestinal issues regardless of a round of antibiotics, so the groomer gave her, among other things, a ‘poop chute’. And it works!

Off to get her a Broward county tag.
