What We’ve Lost

The news that Kennedy Space Center was to be sold and leased out, piecemeal has dogged me for days; I keep thinking that this is the end of us, who we were as a nation – ingenious, inquisitive, optimistic. And it’s all been sold down the river for free cell phones.

[typography font="Ubuntu Condensed" size="20" size_format="px"]Jacobs lands $1.37B NASA contract to support Kennedy Space Center[/typography]
NASA awarded a testing and operations support services contract to Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. that represents a potential maximum value of $1.37 billion.

The award includes a base period of one year and seven months, plus two two-year option periods and four one-year option periods.

Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs will provide overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at Kennedy Space Center.

The Jacobs team that received the contract includes two subcontractors: ERC Inc. and Aerodyne Industries LLC.

The space program made great strides in technology which has saved many lives over the years and continues to do so. Guess the R&D cost was too expensive for Barry the Bastard. Not worth it, eh? And our military power? That’s not worth it, either. But grabbing guns if it saves just one life, well that’s acceptable.

Oh, look! A sleeping dog! We can forget all about those nasty politicians, since there’s nothing we can do about it, anyway, right? Just allow yourself to be mesmerized by the puppy like I have…

Badger the Corgi, tuckered.

Tuckered out

Private industry will get us back into space a lot quicker than government.http://pamibe.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/smiley-plane.gif

Yes, I’ve heard Whittle say the same thing… and maybe that’s the way it ought to be… but it just seems a little sad…
