Shapiro vs Morgan

Piers Morgan was left wondering what hit him when Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro climbed into the ring with him. It was bloody and imminently satisfying, especially after Alex Jones’ header into the canvas by his own right cross.

A truly enjoyable vid.

Later on the program, once Shapiro was safely off camera, Morgan admitted: “In an ideal world, I’d have all guns gone, as we have in Britain, but this is not my country and I respect the fact most Americans wouldn’t wear that kind of argument.”

Morgan figured it out, too bad Obama can’t see it. Oh, I was in Wally World earlier tonight, my Linda Lou was getting her vision checked there. In my semi-aimless wandering through the store I passed by the sporting goods section, on my way from the cream cheese for my (some) morning bagel to the dog treat and toy section. I always look, although the only thing I ever buy there is .22 shells. Rifle and shotgun section mauled, the ammo section near empty.

I wonder if anyone in DC is smart enough to figure that folks aren’t buying all this stuff to turn it in at a government decree?

We don’t need ignorant Brits commenting on the state of our society when they completely fail to understand us and our culture, and take a real hard look at their own.

Not that I’m knocking our neighbors across the pond, as a rule I have no problem with them. But just like they wouldn’t like us going over there and passing judgement on their culture, they need to try to understand and respect ours when they come over here.

    Ms. Pam,

I don’t think Mr. Shapiro did all that well.

For one thing he let the Brit Twit get away repeated reference to “military style assault weapon”. He himself referred to assault rifles or assault weapons multiple times. As has been pointed out, these are misnomers intended to inflame. Assault weapons are fully automatic unlike the AR’s and AK’s most people own.

The other problem I have was when the Slimey Limey asked about nationwide registration. Mr. Shapiro said he was ok with that if the results were not made public. Registration is the first necessary step to confiscation and the Feds have no need to know what firearms private citizens own.

    He could have done better.

I think Shapiro assumes, as I do, that an assault weapons ban is imminent and wanted to take it off the table, talk about the right to own as a whole.

Maybe he could have done better, but he did get across the fact that a far greater number of people are killed with handguns than ‘assault rifles’.

Piers would like to see every gun gone, like in England. He called the notion ‘absurd’ that we would need to protect ourselves from our government. I think Shapiro did well in that area as well, giving him examples.
Especially when he referenced his great-grandparents in Europe who are “now ashes” because they didn’t see the need to arm themselves against possible tyranny.

And, I enjoyed Shapiro throwing the irony of Piers ‘standing on the graves of Sandy Hook children’ to advocate control of guns when schools are a gun free zone.
