Liam’s life must go on – as must the rest of us. With sadness and heavy hearts for those of us old enough to recognize evil and struggle to understand the pain of families’ who’s lives have been left in tatters – but still the magic of innocence for Liam.

A friend lost her 3 year old son 3 years ago yesterday. She had very poignant words about how we all must move on and not feel guilty about enjoying what we have. You can still hold that in your heart as a reminder, but not to the point where it keeps you from living. I certainly am not as eloquent as she was, but especially coming from her it was very moving.

  How courageous… I don’t know that I could go on in her circumstances… And she’s right of course… but I have to feel sad now to be able to move on to happiness. It just is what it is…

  All my experience as a nurse (especially in Peds) tells me we must live for today and enrich the lives of those around us. It’s the only way to ensure the children and the people in our lives don’t become “those people”…the ones who commit unthinkable acts.

      Throughout history there has been tragedy. Throughout history we’ve managed to empathize with those who have suffered and lost and still found a way to go on. You have to.
      
      We have all these amazing people in our lives who deserve the best of what we can give. To focus on events we have no control over and to let that impinge on our lives so heavily is to do us all a disservice.

Beyone the real reason for the Season… that picture is what Christmas is about. I love that.
