I used to collect Waterford snowflakes; absolutely love the way they pick up the lights!

Mike manages the lights each year because somehow it’s beyond my abilities to string a few strands around a dead fir… but I do the ornaments. That’s a skiing moose at the top because we lack a star or angel. Also, Corgi butt on the lower right.
Not a great image, but at least you can tell it’s a tree. [!]

The little village which normally lives on the tree skirt is missing as are many decorations which remained packed away. I wanted a tree this year, but didn’t feel the need to go overboard. You know?

No need putting tempting “treats” in the path of chewy fur babies! You KNOW they’d eat them.
Love the tree topper! I’ve done the same thing in the past. Also, the Waterford ornaments are lovely! I used to have a collection of them myself. They really do add a special shine to the tree.
Think I’m finally getting in the ‘spirit’ of Christmas! Took long enough!
Funny how it snowballs once you get started!
Yep! And now I want to watch Christmas movies and hear Christmas music and drink eggnog!

I haven’t decorated a single tree and won’t get the opportunity this year. However, I am still very much in the mood now!
Went with friends from high school to drive down Christmas Card Lane (a big neighborhood decorated with all manner of lights and giant “cards” and trains and people serving hot cocoa, etc) and then over to Candy Cane Lane (with beautifully decorated houses and lights strung OVER and ACROSS the street between homes). Yes, this is how we chose to spend part of our evening: enchanted by the spirit of Christmas and of Community.
We used to do that! Haven’t for years, but I loved it… maybe there are some houses around here…
The local news stations are always updating their websites here with info on big displays. Maybe the local news in your town does the same?
I’ll check, thanks for the heads up!!
Every Christmas tree needs a goggie butt! Linda Lou misses a tree. We don’t have room for one anymore.

This one is on the smallish side, but it’s fat.
Pretty!
Thanks, Kim!
no need to go over board? no, i don’t know what you mean at all

LOVE! the moose.

Yeah, but you start EARLY!
The moose is from Bonna… if I go around the tree, about half of the ornaments are, starting with a penguin from 1985.
We are so not feeling it this year.

Had the kid Friday night, though, so she wanted to put up a tree. We put up our smaller tree, the black and silver one, with one whopping string of red lights. Couldn’t be bothered to hunt for ornaments in the attic, so found misc stuff around the house and decorated with that. Tree looks pretty good considering the general apathy.
Actually, decorating with what you have at hand is a good idea. We need to do that one year.
