Actors have joined with Mayors Against Illegal Guns to DEMAND A PLAN.
Of course, there’s no hypocrisy in these actors starring in horrifically violent films. Including this guy, who recently joked about killing all the white people in his new movie.

These are their demands:
1. Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America
2. Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines
3. Make gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for “straw purchasers”
As far as I know, all firearm purchases require a federal background check and gun trafficking is a federal crime. Not that our prezzie cares.
I think it’s an emotional issue and they want to do something, but jumping on the assault weapon ban bandwagon is a bad choice. Or possibly just an immature one. With the right stock a hunting rifle could be called an ‘assault rifle’; it’s asinine to categorize one weapon as evil when it’s the same as the rest; they all shoot bullets when a human being pulls the trigger.
And, as Wayne LaPierre said today: “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”.
Now, we must speak … for the safety of our nation’s children. Because for all the noise and anger directed at us over the past week, no one — nobody — has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face: How do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works?
The only way to answer that question is to face up to the truth. Politicians pass laws for Gun-Free School Zones. They issue press releases bragging about them. They post signs advertising them.
And in so doing, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are their safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.
How have our nation’s priorities gotten so far out of order? Think about it. We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, courthouses — even sports stadiums — are all protected by armed security.
We care about the President, so we protect him with armed Secret Service agents. Members of Congress work in offices surrounded by armed Capitol Police officers.
Yet when it comes to the most beloved, innocent and vulnerable members of the American family — our children — we as a society leave them utterly defenseless, and the monsters and predators of this world know it and exploit it. That must change now!

People blaming the NRA for some insane asshole going into a ‘gun free zone’ where he knows he won’t be challenged and raining hellfire down on babies is ludicrous.
For an in-depth look at the culture that got us here and more, check out Peter’s latest.
Edited to add: BILL CLINTON asked for $60 million while president to put more cops in schools to make them safer… never thought I’d miss Slick Willy!
Oh, holy hell. I read this over at Peter’s, but it just didn’t register until now. In 60 square mile Newtown, it took 20 minutes for the city police to arrive.
Police and other first responders arrived on scene about 20 minutes after the first calls.
And you idiots want my guns?

Sadly, at this point all we’re doing is preaching to the choir. The anti-gun people are going to get their way through one means or another, bypassing any obstacle thrown in their way. Reasoned discussion simply isn’t an option anymore.
I figured the nation would treat it as a tipping point. Well meaning, but pointless.
dave – not if we get out the facts they are hiding like – it took 20 min for Police to get there – they wasted time setting up a perimeter – they waited for SWAT to enter the school and that was when Adam stopped shooting kids and shot himself – You are going to take hours before you enter a school to recover our kids body’s after they have bled out and now you want our guns we need because you are busy doing what? – FUCK YOU, try and take them, and I want answers as to why you let all those kids die
Went to a fun show this morning. 1,000 people waiting in line before the doors opened.
AR prices were unbelievable. $2.000 “no-name” rifles. $75 for a Magpul PMAG magazine. .223 rounds @ .90 each.
Most polite crowd I ever saw.
davek

“Most polite crowd I ever saw.”
I’ve noticed that people are very courteous at fun shows.
Everyone is stocking up before the ban? They did that last time, too.
I wish people would stop circulating that pic. Schoolteachers in Israel are NOT armed.
Took it down.
Didn’t mean to sound like an ass. But I get cranky when people assume that everyone in Israel is armed to the teeth 24/7. Fact is, private gun ownership is strictly controlled and limited, much more so than here.

I feel that teachers here who are qualified should be allowed to CONCEAL carry, but, as the author of that article points out, would we want to imprint the image of a rifle-toting teacher on the psyche of a six-year-old?
I understand; I get cranky when people assume children would be scarred for life at the sight of a gun. Might they not feel safer, knowing educators could protect them if necessary?
It comes down to appropriateness, for me. I don’t think ALL parents feel as I do so not all parents are going to want their children exposed to rifles-at-the-ready educators. And I don’t think that’s necessary. Concealed-carrying teachers will be enough of a deterrent, I think.
“Concealed-carrying teachers will be enough of a deterrent, I think.”
Agreed!
When celebrities are no longer protected by (often armed) security guards and their kids go to public school, THEN they can speak to what should be done in our schools.
Yep.
New York governor Andrew Coumo has just gone and admitted that confiscation or mandatory sale to the government(at their prices) may be the answer. No record of him disarming his bodyguards. I wrote him an open letter on my site.
Fucking ghouls. They couldn’t wait to dance in the blood of the children.
Never let a crisis go to waste!
You are correct, and again we are to blame for their incompetence resulting in the death of all those kids & teachers – I have so many questions for them that we will never know – have you noticed there are no times on any of the timelines for the incident other than the 20 min arrival you spoke of? Main question, how many people could have been saved if they entered the building on arrival and recieved proper medical attention?
I’ve got a plan. Boycott every violent movie that Hollywood puts out. Matt Damon says he hates guns unless he’s making a billion dollars as Jason Bourne. Then it’s okay. Same thing with Jamie Foxx, et al.
I watched the vid only to see who I was going to boycott. They’re awfully free with our rights, aren’t they?
