Representative Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) nominated former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) to replace current Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) in a closed-door meeting of House Republicans on Wednesday.
Gohmert reportedly felt it was time to halt “business as usual” in Congress. His nomination of Gingrich did not receive a second and House Republicans voted to retain Boehner as speaker.
The speaker of the House does not have to be a member of Congress, although a non-member has never held the post.
I like Gohmert; a graduate of Texas A&M and Baylor, he served in the Army in the JAG Corps. And he evidently has a wicked sense of humor, which the donkeys don’t appreciate at all.
A good sense of humor is a must these days. Without it, we’d all be f.u.c.k.e.d.

Why the hell did they vote to keep Boehner? He’s incompetent.
