And don’t forget the breading.

An Irvine resident representing the group requests that the city place the sign recognizing the suffering of hundreds of saltwater bass that died at the spot.

An Irvine resident is requesting that the city install a sign to memorialize the hundreds of fish killed in a traffic crash in early October as they were being taken to Irvine Ranch Market.

In the letter, Dina Kourda, on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, asks the city’s street maintenance superintendent to place the sign at the site of the crash on Walnut and Yale avenues.

The sign would read, “In memory of hundreds of fish who suffered and died at this spot,” to remind tractor-trailer drivers of their responsibility to the animals who are “hauled to their deaths every day,” according to the letter provided by PETA.

The crash occurred Oct. 11 when a truck, carrying 1,600 pounds of live fish and several tanks of pure oxygen, crashed with two other vehicles.

The oxygen was used to keep saltwater bass alive as the fish were being taken to market.

[typography font="Ubuntu Condensed" size="20" color="darkred" size_format="px"]“Although such signs are traditionally reserved for human fatalities, I hope you’ll make an exception because of the enormous suffering involved in this case,” the letter read.[/typography]

“Research tells us that fish use tools, tell time, sing, and have impressive long-term memories and complex social structures, yet fish used for food are routinely crushed, impaled, cut open, and gutted, all while still conscious. Sparing them from being tossed from a speeding truck and slowly dying from injuries and suffocation seems the least that we can do,” the letter continued.

Kourda requests that the sign be placed at the edge of the right of way farthest from the road in order to prevent it from interfering with traffic.

Seriously? Fish killed on their way to being killed… should be memorialized?? These people have, if you’ll pardon the pun, jumped the shark with this insanity. Unbelievable. How exactly would they kill a fish to eat it?? Or do they exist solely on fruits and nuts?

I must say, this makes me hungry for some nice pan seared mahi… or deep fried catfish with a side of hushpuppies. Mmmm…

Then there should be a sign posted in front of PETA HQ with the number of dogs/cats PETA kills each year. They kill more pets then they save in a year.

There ya go! Turnabout is fair play!

From the website Peta Kills Animals:

Today the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) published documents online, obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request, showing that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed a staggering 95.9 percent of the adoptable pets in its care during 2011. Despite years of public outrage over its euthanasia program, the notorious animal rights group has continued killing adoptable animals at its Norfolk, VA headquarters, at an average of 37 pets every week.

According to records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, PETA killed 1,911 cats and dogs last year while placing just 24 in adoptive homes. Since 1998, a total of 27,751 pets have died at the hands of PETA workers.

“PETA hasn’t slowed down its slaughterhouse operation, even as the group continues to lecture the American public with its phony ‘animal rights’ message,” said Rick Berman, CCF’s Executive Director. “It appears PETA is more concerned with funding its media and advertising antics than finding suitable homes for these dogs and cats.”

There is a difference. PETA kills all it’s animals in a humane manner. This is much like the folks that were so horrified I’d shoot my own dog when it was time for her to leave us, rather than cart her a dozen miles, in pain, to a place full of strangers and fear-smells to lie on a cold table for that humane shot.

PETA, and the entire left, love death, if only they can be in charge of who dies. They chop an unborn child to pieces, without anything to stop any pain in the name of kindness. Obama wants to give the cheap pain pill to the elderly, instead of the lifesaving, more expensive pill.

And no one is ever more surprised than a leftist when (s)he is put to death by the leftist regime. Funny, that. It’s only been happening since Robespierrre but they are always surprised.

      How true!!

And shooting your own dog in the head is humane. There’s no difference between that and the vet’s shot.

When I’ve taken dogs to the vet for that final injection it’s me killing them, I know that. I just can’t bear to shoot my own dog. The coward in me uses the vet…

My own research tells me that they are also delicious.

I’m trying to figure out which fish use tools. The octopus uses tools. But is that really a fish? And long-term memories…hmmm, what about the goldfish that can’t seem to remember NOT to jump out of the bowl time and again?

    Sigh.

I’m not trying to be bitter and mean, but PETA is full of asshats.

I started hating PETA years ago when I was raising birds. One of the more extremist in PETA went to a bird show and put poison in the water to make a point about keeping birds caged. It killed over 50 birds. And PETA did NOTHING to that nut case but agree that birds shouldn’t be caged. That’s all it took for me. I want nothing to do with PETA ever. And you are showing us even more reasons not to help them. I wish the celebraties saw the ‘real’ PETA.
