He’s done it before and he’ll probably do it again, but if people could only see how he trained these horses, this animal would be out of a job for good…
Tennessee Walking Horse trainer Jackie McConnell and two of his associates, John Mays, and Joseph Abernathy, pleaded guilty today to conspiring to violate the Horse Protection Act. McConnell’s plea deal will keep him out of prison.
The pleas come less than a week after Nightline aired graphic undercover video of McConnell deliberately causing pain to horses in the name of winning ribbons. The footage is what helped land the 52-count federal indictment against McConnell and the three other men.
That man needs what he’s done to the horses done to him.
McConnell could have faced up to five years in prison and a hefty $250,000 fine, but as a part of the plea agreement prosecutors are recommending that he receive probation.
Unbelievable.
But Ann Romney spent a lot of money on a horse!

It is and I know some might be questioning my judgement in posting such a thing, but if I didn’t know how some people trained these beautiful horses, then others might not as well… and the more people who know, the better for the horses.

i would say that most do not -
but the ones who do the exaggerated steps – to some degree all do
the chains, the weights – plus what they do to their tails to get them to stand straight up like that.
the horses are born gaited to some degree – it is the exaggerated gait that is not born into them.
my sister had one as a girl – normal gaited horse movement. no “big lick” if you go to youtube and search training walking horses you will find plenty of videos without the stupid show gaits.
i’ve seen many “normal” walking horses – i’ve never ever watched the high powered show horses. just have no interest. for the record – the one time a group of walking horses blew past Rosalie she nearly flipped out. their foot fall rhythms are different so i don’t think she knew what sort of animal those things were

After thinking about it I remembered seeing the horses strutting their stuff years ago, but there was no ‘big lick’, so I’m glad you commented again on that… hope the practice dies out – quickly.
