Okra

Probably the most unpleasant of all vegetables, okra is slimy. I’ve been told that it’s good for me and that I should just be shut up and eat it, but I have rebelled, over and over.

NO MATTER how many people endorse it, I cannot reconcile my extreme distaste for it with the need to have a vegetable on the table.

Unfortunately, those tasty, wholesome veggies like sweet potatoes and broccoli do not seem to be available any more.

I might be able to stand okra If it’s served with a nice, big, juicy steak!

          I HATE OKRA!!!!!
I’ll eat broccoli, but not really a fan of that either
I don’t like carrots or celery
I’m not gonna eat a beat
Don’t care for cabbage – not even red cabbage

But I loves me some squash!

We’re talking about actual vegetables here, right? :D

Love broccoli, carrots, beets, squash… even celery is fine. How’s this; I’ll just open my mouth really wide and y’all throw stuff in?

Problem is, if West opts for veep, what are his chances at the presidency later?

And yeah, fried okra ain’t bad. Sometimes you just gotta eat your vegetables, whatever they may be, to get healthy!

  2. patti

Notice how in order for a veep to have a chance to become president he has to have been veep under a president that was beloved?

I’m not thinking there is any way Mitt would be so beloved at the end of a presidency – not that he’s likely to get that far anyway.

And they whole – Stay at home Ann Romney never worked a day in her life thing? SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY EARS!!!! NOW who’s declaring war on women? JEEZE I’m sick of men and OTHER WOMEN!!!???!!! declaring that if I don’t get a paycheck I’m not working! I start working the moment my damned (and pained) feet hit the freaking floor and work right up until I declare F^$&#@* it and go to bed at night!!!!!!! I almost never get more than six hours of sleep worrying and thinking about all the NOT WORK I have to get done. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

   it’s 8 AM – is it too early to start eating the bonbons and watching Judge Judy? (I heard they don’t show soap operas for people like me any more)

    :D :hide:

WAIT! She was responding to the Dem strategist who said that…

      - – - – - – -

“Ann Romney started a Twitter account on Wednesday evening to respond to a comment from Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen, who said that the wife of the presumed Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, was unqualified to speak about the kinds of economic issues facing women in America because she had never “worked a day in her life.”

Rosen, appearing on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, called Mitt Romney “old fashioned when it comes to women.” She said the former Massachusetts governor was learning about the economic plights of the fair sex through his wife, Ann, who has been meeting with women regularly on the trail.

“His wife has actually never worked a day in her life,” Rosen said on CNN. “She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids? How do we send them to school? And why we worry about their future.”

A short time later, Ann Romney responded by opening a Twitter account, where her new profile reads, “Mom of five boys. Grandmother of 16. Out campaigning for @MittRomney. #Mitt2012.” She sent just one tweet that said, “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.”

Rather than backing down, Rosen herself then took to the social media site, responding directly to Ann Romney with a series of tweets:

Hilaryr: @AnnDRomney I am raising children too. But most young American women HAVE to BOTH earn a living AND raise children. You know that don’t u?

Hilaryr: @AnnDRomney Please know, I admire you. But your husband shouldn’t say you are his expert on women and the economy. #HeNeedsMore

Hilaryr: oh and @AnnDRomney welcome to Twitter. You will find it a very exhilarating and often unforgiving place!

The impromptu Twitter battle provoked responses from both the Romney and

Obama campaigns – all through twitter.”

Oh – I know it was the Hilary bimbo – she’s the one I’m steamed at
Ann was the target – but Ann is me, at least in the stay at home mom world. In the car elevator? world not so much

Though I have had a few paycheck type jobs early on – like when someone was in college and I was carrying the income load. I haven’t worked for a paycheck since D3 was diagnosed…

After I posted that it occurred to me that you knew it was the Dimbo… ;)

      I haven’t worked since… well, it’s been quite awhile.

The most important work a parent can ever do is raise their children. Paycheck? I don’t care how much money one earns, it pales in comparison with the sacred responsibility of raising good human beings.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but there it is. If a family can afford it, of course.

  4. patti

For the last eighteen years we couldn’t have afforded FOR me to “work”…

When you figure the tax bite, for what I am qualified to make in the world of paychecks – I might clear $2 or $3 an hour. Who can afford to work for that? especially when the cost of gas and wear and tear on the car just getting to and from a job would eat half of that?

But keeping the family running? Priceless – at least I hope that’s what my family thinks…..

Same thing here, just doesn’t make sense for me to work for… basically nothing. There are no kids at home, but both Mike and I prefer my being here and taking care of the home… I think what he really enjoys is my taking care of HIM. And I don’t mind… it’s one of my jobs… ;)

  5. Joan of Argghh!

Ah,that is a great little analogy. It would have to be raw broccoli for me, though.

I will say that Ann Romney has done more for her hubby’s campaign today than he’s done in two years. I’ve been looking for the defining “center” of Romney and it is surely she.

You’re certainly correct about Ann. I think she’d make a Laura Bush type First Lady; class, all the way.
