The little bananas are looking especially good after I took wRitErsbLock’s advice and trimmed away the excess babies that weren’t going to grow, anyway.

I can’t believe I thought these plants dull when Joe gave me cuttings.. Turns out they’re anything but and their color surprises me.

You can’t blame the fauna for being fooled into growing; there’s been no winter for south Florida this year.
This plant has tender new growth – but on the tips of the naked branches only. Odd.

And this one is busy growing new leaves, but all over.

Endlessly fascinating and they make a nice break from politics…

I heart growing things.
My mango tree is all confused. He’s flowered and has fruit, and it’s only February. It’s too soon, I keep telling him, but he’s fruiting anyway.
Actually, my strawberry guavas are flower, too. As is my avocado.
Poor, confused plants, with no winter to help guide them.

I wish I didn’t have a brown thumb. Everything I plant dies. A lot of folks have special wardrobes they wear for ganrdening. I have one of those wardrobes. The main differences between that and my normal clothes is the black, hooded cape and black mask for I am the Executioner of Plants.
It’s really too bad, too. I have this half acre lot and I love fresh REAL tomatoes, the kind that are grown to eat instead of the ones in the supermarket that are grown to ship.

I LOVE fresh tomatoes! Can’t grow ‘em, though. No matter what I spray ‘em with, bugs get ‘em. I heard those upside down growers protect them from bugs, but haven’t tried one yet. Maybe this year…

I wish I could grow my own bananas!

This is my first crop; I’ll let you know how they taste compared to store bananas!
