When asked what he thought about the video of Marines urinating on dead terrorists, Congressman Allen West said:
“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.
“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?
“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”
Love.this.man. God willing, he will be president one day.

Wasn’t he a presidential candidate approximately twenty years ago? Seems to me I voted for him then.

I don’t think so… he was active duty 20 years ago.

From your lips to God’s ears…

Never before have I had a presidential candidate chosen so far in advance… but this one’s special.

The bigwigs complaining about these Marines should consult the folks they call The Greatest Generation. It was toward the end of the Guadalcanal Campaign when the Marines bagged one of Admiral Tojo’s sons. They collected his body and after identifying it, buried him on a mound of earth. They then sunk an artillery ammo canister into the dirt for what the military calls a “piss tube”.
Then they put up a sign saying “Take a piss on Tojo’s son”. In addition to guys just traveling past and taking advantage of a handy piss tube, replacements were marched there and told to pee.
Had we followed today’s rules back then we’d be speaking Japanese in the west, Italian in the south and German in the rest of the country.
I am so effing sick of those who refuse to put their own asses on the line complaining about what our warriors do. I propose a new rule: If you don’t have an honorable discharge, shut the fuck up, except to say “thank you”.
14. January 2012 at 8:52 am
I think that would be a damned good rule.
Conquerors have been pissing on the vanquished since time began; even little boys will pee on their rivals lying on the field of battle… but we have to be PC about everything. Fuck that.

I did some research and it must have been Alan Keyes in ’96.
As far as the pissing goes, as a woman I sure wouldn’t be happy if it was my son they were pissing on. Psychologically, I totally get it.

It’s a mark of disrespect, and I understand why they do it. They’re not the bad guys in this scenario at all. Not to me, anyway…

2016 if this country still has presidential elections by then…

Why didn’t this guy run for President? Maybe in another four years or so…
I really don’t have an issue with the actual act itself. Like the man says, war is hell. I recall reading something about our soldiers in WWI, after breaking the Siegfried Line and entering Germany proper, having themselves a ritual leak in the Rhine River, including some big names like Winston Churchill and General George Patton. The mistake the Marines made here was videotaping their act and letting it get to the world media, thus exposing it to public opinion and judgement. Some things that happen on the battlefield just need to stay on the battlefield and this was a perfect example of such.
Those Marines should receive some sort of summary punishment. Not for the actual act, but for sullying the Marine Corps by behaving like a bunch of idiotic shithead teenagers who feel the need to Youtube every stupid act they do, instead of like professional soldiers. That was their real crime.

I agree, Dave. Other than act foolish and bring dishonor to the Corp, I think they did nothing wrong.
