Happy Veteran’s Day and a special shout out to my own vet, Mike, who observed that everyone seems to be taking the day off work today except veterans… meaning that once again, vets must carry the burden for the rest of us.
I’ve often wondered what it must feel like, to be vilified by so many in your own country as a ‘baby killer’ but know that by defending that same land you are doing what you know is absolutely right….
Courage comes in many forms, but few have mastered its use, except for the military. Like John Wayne said, Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway. May we always have men and women of such mettle to keep us safe.
You are appreciated and loved, whether you traveled by land, sea or air… or all three.

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Don’t forget, the country has done far more than us than we did for her.

in the military you are not trained to think first – there is normally not enough time – just do it – there will be time to think after you do it – as long as you survive by not thinking first

That explains a lot…

was there a reason they gave me hazardous duty pay for driving that boat – P.S. – if you go to the Sam Rayburn site you will find my name on the Gold Commissioning crew – they transferred me from the Blue that morning so I think I was the only one that was on both crews – I was also the youngest to serve on her still being only 17years 8month when I reported aboard

Seventeen sounds very, very young… Tyler is only 5 years away from that now…
You’re listed on the Gold crew page here: http://www.ssbn635.org/ssbn635_com_book13.html
But I didn’t see your name on the Blue crew page. Whatever, we know you were there…
And if I forgot to tell you… Thank you for your service.
