Rick Perry has a new ad out to match his ‘Cut, Balance and Grow’ plan.
The plan, along with Cain’s, has garnered some attention from the Wall Street Journal. Longish article, but they make some good points.
A flat tax, lower taxes for business, elimination of the inheritance tax, simplified returns.. not to mention opening up drilling…! Works for me and odds are very good it would work for America… if he can step up his game and sell it. We’re getting Romney shoved down our throats just like McCain in ’08… and while the dark horse in this race, Herman Cain, looks better every day, the media tries to nobble him at every turn.
Cheer for Uncle Mo in the Breeder’s Cup at Churchill Downs, November 4th and 5th!
And that’s what happens when I have too many tabs open at the same time…

If Romney wins the nomination he might well lose the general because the little people that the Republican Establishment takes for granted will not work phone lines, drive old people and others to the polls nor do the shoe leather, door to work work.
Obama, however, is so damed inempt that Romney may win the general, in spite of everything. If this happens, not much in Washington will change, the country will still be going to Hell in a handcart, just slower.
Then in 2014 another wave of wild eyed lefties and conservatives will be fighting it out for Congress and I think conservatives, not Republicans, will gain more seats. This will mark the end of the establishment Republicans. They will find themselves like the centrist Democrats, today. Powerless and insignificant.
Either way, Romney will bring the death of the establishment Republicans. Really, the Buchanon Brigades started the schism. The establishment hated Reagan, GWH Bush was their man in ’80 but the voters overruled them. By the time the ’88 election came in my county at the county Republican meeting to draw lots to see the order of the names on the primary ballot there was NO ONE who would go up and put Bush’s name in the hat. Bush won the primary, due to establishment muscle and we got eight years of Clinton. One would think that this would have taught the establishment but in ’96 we got Dole. Then we got eight years of another establishment Republican. Don’t get me wrong, I love Dubya but he isn’t the same kind of conservative we are.
Perry is. Even with his mistakes like Gardasil and the Trans Texas Corridor (which wasn’t much of a mistake, we NEED to replace Interstate 35) he’s been a damned good governor. And he’s tough, Dubya was tough too but didn’t have that killer instinct. Perry does. I’ve seen it. And that is why Perry is my first choice and Cain my second. I don’t know that Cain has that killer instict. Anyhow, this fight is for the soul of the country and the soul of the Republican Party, all at once. I don’t think the fight will be over until around 2024 or ’28.
If I go senile somebody make sure my absentee ballot is for the most conservative, most Christian or Jewish person on the ballot in every race. And when I’m dead, make sure I vote early and often!
“And when I’m dead, make sure I vote early and often!”
If y’all do the same for me!
I really do like Herman, but his strengths are also his weaknesses… I love that he’s a businessman, but he’s never governed. Ack. Does he have the killer instinct? I don’t know. Instinct tells me that Perry does. Underneath the good ol’ boy thing that the leftist media hates is a steel will.
I still love Dubya, but not for everything he did as president. He’s a good man.
but Pete, so many of the Jewish community are liberals…. I still love Israel and will stand with her always, but I just don’t get why the Jewish community votes so heavily Democrat…
anyways, Why Uncle Mo Pam? Just curious.
Because he came back from cancer. Plenty great horses out there, but his spirit is beautiful… like Rosalie’s…
Works for me
Don’t know anything about the horse, but I love a good story!
Me too.
Maybe this will help, although bear in mind that it is somewhat tongue-in-cheek:
http://frontpagemag.com/2011/05/27/why-jews-support-the-democratic-party/
I don’t think, not to sound elitist, that a non-Jew will ever get the American Jew’s romance with the DP. It’s something that is nigh on impossible to explain to a non-Jew.
What non-Jews don’t get, too, is that Israeli Jews are more secular than not. Israel became a place to preserve Jewish lives more than Judaism…
Like I said, you’d have to be raised Jewish, secular or religious, to really understand.
Ah… the ‘plopping Jews’.
Okay, so now I understand an 1/8 more than I did before… thanks!
Actually – that is exactly why I don’t understand. Jews are Jewish by birth. The left hate them – the Democrat party is the home of the KKK and, just as with black Americans, the KKK (and other racists on the left – the home of racism and racist policies) wants to eradicate Jews in the US – just because of their DNA.
Every last anti-Semitic rant I have heard in my life came from the mouth of a lefty – The conservatives I have known just want to be left alone to make their own choices and don’t really care what others choose to do with their lives (so long as it is all kept legal – we righties are funny that way).
Every Christian I’ve ever discussed the topic with understands, as I do, that the Jewish race is the chosen race of God and we pretty much all know that Jesus was a Jew and think pretty highly of him…
I will simply never understand how Jews in America can support the party of FDR who turned back the St Louis – refusing safe harbor for nearly 1,000 Jews fleeing Hitler. Just don’t get it.
That’s why I only understand an 1/8th more than I did before reading the article…
This whole country refused entry to Jews prior to WWII. This country was collectively isolationist before Pearl Harbor.
Like I said, it’s hard to explain but also you have to understand that anti-Semitism in the DP is a fairly recent phenomenon and virulent anti-Semitism in the DP is largely confined to the whacko FAR left. The times they are a-changin’, and more Jews are shifting their allegiances.
Please note that I said conservative Jew. as in Orthodox Jew. This crowd is the sect of Judism most likely to vore Republican, And when, or if, the Republicans fall apart and the new Party arises from the ashes, ther’ll probably be a whole slew of Jews, Christians, even that subset of Islam that does not do Jihad will move into that new Party.
The time is ripe for a move from the Democrats by everyone who lives conservative but votes left. There are a helluva lot of bkack folks who live just as conservatively as Herman Cain. Most of these folks do not pay attention to plitics, why should they? They live where half of the spaces on the ballot are empty, the Democrats run unopposed.
We made a serious error when we let the left take over education. It’s not just that our kids are being indoctrinated, it’s that through education the left has taken over the gathering and spreading of news, or information. Somehow, the Party of the Klu Klux Klan became the Party of Civil Rights, all without changing any part of it’s philosophy.
More later, I’m having a nap attack!
A Conservative Jews is NOT an Orthodox Jew.
Orthodox does not mean conservative, like Jew does not mean liberal?
I’m confused, but will shut up so this doesn’t turn into a bad joke.
My bad. Peter said small “c” conservative. Capital “C” Conservative Jew is one of the three main sects of Judaism:
Orthodox, Conservative and Reform. There’s also Reconstructionist Jews.
There’s a lot to it, eh? Just like all the sects that emerged after Luther’s split from the Catholic church and are also considered Christian. But yes, I know they weren’t born Christian. Different thing altogether.
I still like Perry but I think he’s lost too much early ground behind Romney and Cain to catch up. But if he loses or bows out now, he may still gain valuable experience which could benefit him four or eight years down the road, in another Presidential election. Plus we shouldn’t discount him as a possible VP choice.
That’s true… he’d be a great VP pick for Allen West, Marco Rubio or Herman Cain…
