You don’t kill innocent women and children with impunity, which is what the Israelis would be doing if they “nuked” the Territories. Israel tries hard to live in peace with those who would destroy her because, in Judaism, life, and the preservation of it, ALL life, is the most sacred tenet.

What I meant by that, when I wrote it, is that you don’t have to take a totally pacifistic stance and let your enemies kill you. Self-defense is permissible. Killing in the defense of others is permissible. But the wholesale destruction of another people is NOT. For any reason. Including the on-going THREAT of annihilation.
The IDF was conducting operations that mitigated collateral damage long before we were forced to do the same in today’s more humanitarian warfare practices.
