    And every year fewer of us know anyone who ever served. I wish I knew what to do about that.

    All I can do is thank those who came before me and those who served with me and, as important, those who came after.

    Some thought should also be given to those who never wore Uncle’s suit. The starving and the peasants (as well as the better off) who said, in whatever language “fuck it, let’s roll the dice” and ended up in New York or Boston or Savannah or San Francisco or any of a dozen ports and set out to build new lives and a nation.

      That’s true, because they became the nation we have today. Those immigrants became Americans and American soldiers and sailors. They came to start a better life and ended up giving theirs for their new country. :yes:

    My cousin Jimmy was killed in Vietnam. RIP Jimmy.

      God bless Jimmy, his family and friends. We remember Jimmy with his multitude of brothers who perished defending this nation. :hug:
