Superman’s defection

Truth, Justice and the American way not enough.

Superman has tired of being of tool of the running dog capitalists, an “instrument of U.S. policy”. Truth, justice and the American Way aren’t enough anymore so he’s going to the UN to renounce his citizenship.

The American way of life is an expression that refers to the lifestyle of people living in the United States of America. It refers to a nationalist ethos that purports to adhere to principles of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

According to The Blaze, Superman caught some hell for appearing at a protest in Tehren to support the demonstrators.

The key scene takes place in “The Incident,” a short story in Action Comics #900 written by David S. Goyer with art by Miguel Sepulveda. In it, Superman consults with the President’s national security advisor, who is incensed that Superman appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime, no doubt an analogue for the recent real-life protests in the Middle East. However, since Superman is viewed as an American icon in the DC Universe as well as our own, the Iranian government has construed his actions as the will of the American President, and indeed, an act of war.

I prefer the ass-kicking man of steel over the geo-political asshole. My Superman will always be the guy who would turn back time to save his girlfriend. Next thing you know, this new Superman will throw down a jihad on our ass. Is Batman next?

Well, Hell, we have a whole damned political party that has rejected the American way of life.

  3. Peter Says:

Of course he’s a Donk. He got his start during the FDR Admin.

It’s easy to miss things with not bein’ born yet and all. I found, when I was just a boy, a whole slew of old comic books and magazines from WW2, seems Superman did a lot of duking it out with the Nazis before anyone ever heard of Godwin’s Law.

Fought the Nazis but now he’s joining Iranian ‘freedom fighters’ in a protest? He’s right; America’s just too small for him.

      Kryptonite cocktail, anyone?
