UNarmed National Guard deploy to border

Immigration

1,200 National Guard troops will deploy to our southern border August 1st as a ‘bridge’ until 1,000 CBP agents are added. They will be there to help stem violence from illegal immigration and drug smuggling. Without ammo.

Alan Bersin, commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, said the troops would “support” the work of Department of Homeland Security personnel already operating on the border.

Obama in May announced the National Guard deployment amid increased concerns about border violence stemming from illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

National Guard Bureau Chief Gen. Craig McKinley said the Guard at the border would be working on criminal and intelligence analysis, as well as “entry identification” — a specialty that involves surveillance. He said the full National Guard force should be stationed in the four U.S. border states by September.

According to the Obama administration, nearly half of the troops will be sent to the volatile Arizona-Mexico border. A total of 524 will be stationed in Arizona, with 250 in Texas, 224 in California and 72 in New Mexico. An additional 130 will serve in “command-and-control” and other support positions.

FoxNews

These troops will be unarmed and at the mercy of the Mexican drug runners and murderers that have taken over our southern border.

At least give them rubber bullets.

The gangs in south Florida took fully automatic weapons from the guard after st Andrew because the weapons had no bullets – does this sound familiar – where did the democrats that run things get their stupidity from?

Still looking & waiting for a REAL source on the NO ammunition. So far, the FOX News link don’t have a direct source. Troops are armed in airports, so why wouldn’t they be @ the border. I want facts, not FUD.

I never understood the concept of sending in unarmed troops, or even more insulting, guns but no bullets. If they can’t defend themselves or provide some deterrence with a show of force, why bother? All that’s being accomplished is giving the enemy plenty of targets.

  4. Jason Says:

Again, until I get FACTS, this whole “unarmed / armed with no ammo” story is nothing more than a farce. Where is the source of this no ammo story that keeps getting repeated??

Looking for vid story I just saw about the mexicans taking advantage of the unarmed NG at the border. Will repost when I find it.

After each natural disaster, National Guard are called in, armed with rifles. No bullets.

    Here’s one: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/24665

There are more references, but I can’t find the vid yet.

There’s a little thing in the way called Posse Comitatus.

  7. Jason Says:

Thanks, but I rank CanadaFreePress up there with NewsMax. Any other sources? I seem to remember during Hurricane Katrina, the govt was taking away citizen’s firearms @ gun / rifle point!

    • pam Says:

I ran into numerous references, but I guess none you will accept. Think what you want.

After Katrina, they may have had ammo. But I personally know that they did not after Andrew. Police went door to door confiscating guns after Katrina. I don’t know that the Guard was involved in that at all.

I just want verifiable news source- nothing from a left OR right wing propaganda page. So far, I have found nothing supporting this claim about unarmed troops. It’s like story in the media about the underwear bomber. It was reported he bought a one-way ticket, which wasn’t the truth @ all, but all the news agencies reported it as such.

I think I have the clip saved… About troops from the war having to patrol the streets after Katrina and take guns away from citizens.

    • pam Says:

The stories I just read said ‘police’ and there were photos of them… so I relayed police.

Good luck sifting through layers of bullshit…

  9. Jason Says:

Ha! I was just about to post that. Seems like it was a joint effort and the police were the ones actually taking the guns away. Either way, our govt @ work. There needs to be a class action lawsuit against all those goons for gross violation of the constitution.

Jason, one of the guys I work with in Dallas/Ft Worth is an E8 Sergeant with the Texas National Guard in charge of an MP squad – He is the highest ranking enlisted man in his group – His squad is always fully armed only because they are MP’s and he has stated in the past ref Katrina not all others were armed – less then half had empty clips and no live rounds for miles – When I was armed in the Navy I had a 45 with 5 rounds and never more, no spare clip – we had only 2 45′s that were not under lock and key on a NUC Sub – as for the National Guard that were at the airport, how do you know they had live ammo and were not there just for show?

  11. mike Says:

Jason – as for the confiscated guns – they were thrown in barrels in a trailer that flooded and most were damaged beyond restoration after a couple years – Also most were not tagged properly so they could not be returned to the rightful owners – I saw pictures of them in the NRA magazine – As far as I know only Police confiscated the lawful guns and rifles – There were also a lot of Police Officers that deserted – During St Andrew Dade County lost 8 officers, one was found in what was left of his home under a mattress in the fettle position in shock – I was in Andrew and monitored it with a Scanner programmed with every Freq Dade County had – after the storm all were down but one police and one fire – I also listened to one fire truck that refused order to take cover as the eye was ending until they were able to free this woman, that truck was one of the ones that were destroyed if I remember correctly

  12. Peter Says:

Oh, hell. They don’t need rubber bullets, they need effin’ Napalm. We lost something very important when we stopped making and using Napalm. Has anyone seen the National Testes?
