As I type this, Tropical Storm Bonnie does her worst outside… which is really nothing more than a lot of water and winds of 40mph. Not bad at all, and I welcome her ashore providing she doesn’t crawl over into the Gulf and strengthen.
Blogging has appreciably altered my reality, hopefully for the better, but there are so many things that I’d honestly rather not know today. Ignorance can be bliss.
My knowledge of how things work and why people act as they do -the quest of which propelled me into the medium nine years ago – has broadened and deepened. Yet my core values and beliefs are still the same. Nevertheless, I’m more idiot than savant. There are some things that can be learned; intelligence is not one of them. To compensate, I try to exercise the reasoning capabilities to their utmost.
How and why I write has morphed from the anecdotal to asinine quips relating to political stories. The individual lost in the generic. My brain is saturated. Though I read an astounding amount of news every day, it takes the rage related to politics to break through the ennui and force a post. That’s just sad.
I’ve come to resent blogging. It’s no longer fun. It makes me want to curl up on the couch with my trusty stuffed collie Laddie and watch old Britcoms.
Yet as soon as I publicly denounce blogging, the old feelings will come back and I’ll return, elated and full of ideas. I’ll make promises I couldn’t possibly keep but it won’t matter in the rush of feelings.
Can we just skip that step this time? I’m not quitting, but reasoning has been stretched taut enough to snap, so I’m officially on vacation from August 1st to the 7th. The disconnect has already begun. The passion, we hope she returns. In the meantime, expect pictures of kittens and videos of the elderly forcibly jettisoned from porch swings. (It’s horrible; each time one goes sailing aloft I wince yet laugh. What’s wrong with me?)
Any of the regulars wishing to guest blog, let me know and I’ll give you a set of keys. pamibe at gmail dot com.
Tonie is on her way for a girlie get together, much needed on both our parts. We plan to scrapbook, watch movies, eat whatever’s handy -including a banana cream pie- and shop for bras. I don’t think it gets much better than that.

Do what you need for YOU. Of course you’ll be missed…and whether you come back or not, just know how much you have contributed has been appreciated. I, for one, applaud your political commentary…I wish I could ingest and share it like you have.
Enjoy your down time. Everyone needs it.

Well you know I agree since I’m one of those “facebook desertees”
Love the hurricane smiley!

Any vacation, be it from homebase or from blogging, is a good thing. Take care of yourself first and foremost. Been there, trust me.

Love you all, very very much.

Shopping for bras stress me about as much as politics does.
Have fun and enjoy your breater away from politics!
23. July 2010 at 12:24 pm
Thanks, QW! I agree with you about bra shopping!

a week is not a break! it is a nap…
i am painting my living room.
i hate bras.
23. July 2010 at 12:39 pm
I hate bras, too. Wear ‘em as little as possible.

I have to paint when the man is not home – he hates the mess
email received from him this evening :
We are watching a really bad Chinese movie dubbed into English with
Bulgarian subtitles
nothing if not multicultural…

I unusually wait til the man is traveling, too. More for myself, though. I order in and treat myself – no cooking after a long day of painting!

If you’ve never done it, get fitted by a ‘professional’ for your bra. I finally did that, and now have a bra that I’m not conscious I have on…no tugging or binding or discomfort.
Although it’s always good at the end of the day to pull it off!

Good idea, Mrs. Who, thanks!

What everyone else said.
Let me add… It’s time for a “news fast”. Just get away from it all. Don’t look at the web, don’t read anything current, don’t let the tv wander to any channel that even remotely has “news”. For that matter – if you have a list of favorite movies – now would be the time to watch them!
You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel after even 2 days. And don’t worry – if anything big happens you’ll find out whether you want to or not. LOL.
So happy vacation, happy scrapbooking and happy news fast. It’s good for the soul. I think if you can make a break for a week – other better and more fun things will come to mind if nothing else you’ll be able to relax which I’m positive is impossible when one listens or reads news on a daily basis. Life is for enjoying – so step away from the news!
23. July 2010 at 1:40 pm
That sounds much better; a news ‘fast’. Thanks, Teresa!

Have a wonderful wonderful time! I’m hoping while Hubby is away to get some serious scrapbooking time in after the Munchkin is off to bed. I live the dream.
Enjoy your news ‘fast’ and snuggle those puppies and that boy. (And by ‘puppies’, I mean the dogs…not the other ‘puppies’.
)

So far I’ve done 2 pages and Tonie is working on her 20th!!!
Puppies… yes, I’ll do that.
23. July 2010 at 3:57 pm
Puppies?
Oops, sorry… I had a moment – the same kind that makes Mrs. Who roll her eyes and sigh. Oh wait…
There it was again.
23. July 2010 at 7:55 pm
I also call them ‘the girls’.
Um…
