Just how it’s supposed to go! Burglars break out front window, enter home, get shot for their trouble.

The teenage son of a Harris County deputy constable opened fire with his father’s automatic rifle Tuesday after burglars forced their way into the family’s home, authorities said.

The boy, 15, and his sister, 12, were alone about 2:30 p.m. when they heard glass breaking downstairs at the home in the 2600 block of Royal Place Court in northwest Harris County.

The boy went downstairs with the rifle and spotted an adult man and a male juvenile in the living room.

He fired several shots and struck one of the intruders, said Lt. Jeff Stauber with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

“He was concerned with protecting his younger sister — that’s exactly what he did,“ Stauber said.

The man – who has not been identified – was struck several times by gunfire.

Sheriff’s investigators were tipped off when the suspected burglars quickly showed up at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

Now that’s what I call a Righteous Shooting. By the son of a cop, no less. :D :woot:   :nana:

    Good for him!

    (sigh)… I just love a happy ending!

That kid should be sent to bed without dinner for not killing the sumbitches…

I don’t think it’s for lack of trying… the one he nailed was hit ‘several’ times. Must have been a small caliber.

Next time he should try a 12 gauge shotgun; that way he can spread the happiness to the second intruder.

Sounds like the kid knew what he was doing to land ‘several’ hits. Kudos to him AND his parents for making sure he was competent. As for the goblin’s survival, I’m willing to bet the rifle in question was an AR-style automatic, firing .223 rounds – probably FMJs – that passed right through the meat with minimal cavitation. Not a great home defense weapon, as you can also unintentionally wound or kill family members in the next room. Should have been loaded with soft-point or frangible rounds.

    BUT…

I’ll bet that just the sound of a full-auto burst made those cocktards fill their britches!

      Bet it did! LOL!

My home defense weapon is a .380 but I want a shotgun because there’s less margin for error when one is, shall we say, scared witless…? ;)

In that case, make sure it’s a pump-action. There’s nothing like the sound of a 12-ga. racking in the night to make a goblin’s blood run cold!

Besides, there’s less chance for error with a pump, IMHO. If you encounter a misfeed with a semi-auto in a high-stress situation, it can cost you your life. Pumps are more reliable, and in the hands of a competent shooter can actually recycle faster than many autoloaders.

Here’s a better one for that crappy Florida swamp weather:

I like the tactical – it holds 7 rounds!

Six oughta be enough. Any more and you should be firing up the grill to cook hamburgers…

Okay, as long as we’re talking gun-lust…

I had been looking at the 870 Marine Magnum too – until we found a sweet little beauty at the local gun show last year. Meet “Charlotte” (Gun pr0n extraordinaire): http://www.fnhusa.com/le/press/imagedetail.asp?mid=FNM0007

She was a little pricey, but the engineering and build quality is simply awesome – with an AR-style rotating bolt and 2-pin takedown… But the biggest advantage for us is the collapsible stock. We keep it set at an intermediate length for Mrs. Who’s short stature, and in a fraction of a second I can snap it out to full length to shoulder it, or just shoot from the hip with the pistol grip. VERY versatile, and gosh-durn sexy to boot!! :guns:

      A ‘little’ pricey?

It’s lovely. Sexy in a brutish strength kind of way… but yeah, way too much moola. ;)

I’m really hoping he’s allowed to sue the intruders for the cost of the expended ammo.
