These are blooming, whatever they may be… bird of paradise?

They manage to hold a certain attractiveness even while dying.

Green is my favorite color, but I only like it where it belongs, in nature. Go figure.

Oh love ‘em – very pretty. It looks way warmer there than it is here…
It is warm down here; my plumeria is leafing out and the oaks are finally starting to drop their leaves in lieu of the new growth. I think Spring has officially sprung.
yes, they are bird of paradise plants.
Thanks, WB.
Whatever it is, it looks like it would come to life in a sci-fi movie!
I know!
Ooh! Mongo like flowers.
Goood, Mongo!
The various types of BoP are really intriguing. My favorites are the ones with almost black leaves. They’re different.
Love these photos!
Thanks!! I’ve not seen the variation with dark leaves; bet it’s stunning!
I’ve also not seen the black birds of paradise.
As for me and my yard: they are not welcome here. We took out 4 or 5 behemoths. HATE them (in our yard, appreciate them in other people’s yards). The first one we removed, from the front yard after we moved here in 2005 weighed 400 lbs (truck weighed at entry/exit at the dump)
I know exactly why you say that, too. They take some upkeep…. the guy down the road rips ‘em up now and then to keep them culled and I keep the small ones. No, when they get big and ugly, forget it!
