Rainy Day

February 1, 2010

Breagha, Garden

It’s a dark, rainy day and the natives are restless. Or simply miserable, like Bree here. Can’t tell you why I like this picture; she’s obviously not at one with nature and is contemplating embarrassing her entire breed by darting back into the house rather than get her feet wet.

I did manage to find a bug on a leaf and some new growth before the rain started up again.

How and why dogs will not ‘go’ on damp ground eludes me. I understand that the smells are different, but it’s grass. Just do it.

Neither Lance nor Maggie will walk onto wet grass or cement, don’t understand it because they will walk though the others pee but not “clean” fresh wet grass.

    Boggles the mind.

If I put a lead on her, she’ll walk and do her thing as if nothing has happened… wet grass, atomic attack, snow… nothing will stop her enjoyment of a walk! LOL!

But damp grass at home? She’d hold it for days.

What? What’s this? DOG pictures? and there I though all you did was bash the O

  3. Da Goddess Says:

I never understood why Sheila would stand there looking so forlorn when it rained and it was time to go out to do her thing. I mean, this was the same dog would leap tall buildings just to lay in a mud puddle in an otherwise dry yard.

Dogs. Weirder than people. Or “almost as weird”

  4. Teresa Says:

My dog never had a problem when outside with rain or wet grass… she was scared to death INSIDE when it rained because she just KNEW it was going to thunder… Send her out to do her business and she was fine!

    • pam Says:

I really wish dogs could talk!

We finally had to harness ‘em up and go for a walk around the hood late last night so they’d go. Sillies.

  5. Lee Ann Says:

:bone: Such a cool picture of the puppy girl! And Mummy, what you fail to realize is she a delicate creature of nature and doesn’t want to trounce the new growth. :D

    No?

Okay, I got no answer because Darla does the same thing. If you send her out and its sprinkling, she looks at you like, “Why? What did I do?” and try to dart back in the house. Now Boo Hahn? She could care less…she knows if she gets damp or wet, she gets toweled off and we play when its time to get dry and she gets all frisky and it’s a ball!

Dogs…they just ain’t right, and its wonderful! :yay:  :nana:

    • pam Says:

      ‘Delicate creature’.

Problem is, I’ve told her that she’s a Princess for three years and she’s starting to believe me! ;)

  6. Lee Ann Says:

Oh well, in that case…just accept the fact that you’re screwed.

  7. patti Says:

It is so difficult for a delicate princess to go peepee in the snow – know what I mean? ;)

  8. Peter Says:

Ming the Merciless hates wet grass Hates hates HATES! Bingo T. Pug doesn’t care. He goes out and chases around and then cuddles up to Daddy with his soaking paws and wet belly. Little shit. Cochise’ Apaches Princess is the Mud Monster. She simply does not care.

Their personalities are as individual as any human’s. Even though breed will tell in certain behaviors, a dog’s character traits are formed as ours are; experiences and genetics.

      I think it fascinating.

      • Quality Weenie Says:

        So true.

Lance and Maggie are from the same litter (brother & sister) and both the same breed yet they are as different as night and day.

And both had the same experiences from birth to 8 weeks old (when Maggie left for her first home) and then both had the same experiences from 6 months on.

        • pam Says:

The unpredictable nature of character never ceases to amaze me. If you clone a dog, will their nature be the same?

  9. Kim @ What's That Smell? Says:

My dog is not that particular…in fact he will stand in one spot in the rain until he is drenched, then go do his business. Golden retrievers aren’t known for their smarts LOL.

Pam! I’ve totally been lax in my visits…I used to be subscribed by email but I guess I’m not…do you have that option, I can’t find it?
