We tried pet store options to keep Daisy warm through the recent cold weather, but nothing fit correctly. The combination of short legs and long body obviously does not lend itself to a uniform fit within established canine parameters. Dachshunds, Corgis, Bassets… none of them can shop satisfactorily at Petsmart.
So, we turned to Dachshund Delights and they made a Hug-A-Dog coat to order from Daisy’s measurements.
It’s a grand thing, her new cover up. I decided on black/gray because of her coloring and it does look stunning on, does it not?

Yes, she stands still as her sister terrorizes her…
It’s very well made and soft as butter. They also do harnesses and slickers… which will probably be her next acquisition. Or the Fuzzie. I can’t decide!

If we put anything at all on Fiona – even a bow around her neck – she freezes in place. We call it apparel paralysis

She looks quite adorable. But I think she’s a spring instead of a winter. She needs a bright pink chartreuse. That will really make her colors pop!
In the words of Tim Gunn, ‘Make it work!’

I warn you now, one outfit will lead to a couple dozen. It’s a sickness, really it is.
I think a nice purple would good with her colors or even orangy. Oh or a soft medium blue.

Her flexi is purple and one of her harnesses is pink. She looks like trailer park trash when she wears them together.

Oh and Lance says
“Wow, you are one hot looking momma in the new coat Daisy!”

Daisy says, “…if I weren’t so short…!”

Poor Daisy…she’s just not an ‘off the rack’ kind of girl. Some girls are just made for couture.

Isn’t she though?
That billboard ROCKS. What makes it better is that a bunch of business people chipped in to make it happen.

We haven’t found anything that will stay on the Pugs, either. We need to find Bug A Pug or somesuch. We put a sweater on Eddie T. dog and then, later, found it in the backyard, in pieces. We love Bingo but still miss Eddie.

Hug-A-Dogs are made to each dog’s specifications; I’m sure they could fit a Pug! Oh, and I found this in my email this morning:
We love Bree and Daze, but we miss the hell out of Tess and Zoe, so I know exactly what you mean…

Damn wussy FL dogs…

SOUTH Florida, at that! Would it help to know that we don’t have heat in our house?

I know.. figured as much.. it’s just like the ‘yankees’ not getting AC in their cars years ago… it’s beyond my personal experience… that said, looks like you did right by Daisy there.

We’re having a nice, cool winter. The nights have been in the 40s, so yeah… she needed something.
February 10th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
It’s ridiculous that she should have to wear a coat at all. Damn global warming..

That damn AlGore!
