I wondered why Newt Gingrich’s campaign kept calling us. They were put off until hubby could speak to them; he just loves that sort of thing and his happiness is paramount, you know.
Well, the answer was apparent this morning: Newt fancies himself a contender.
Gingrich considers self among top 2012 prospects
CARY, N.C. – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday he considers himself among the top Republican prospects for the 2012 presidential election, adding that he believes there will be plenty of GOP options for voters to consider.
“I think I’m probably on a list of seven or eight possible candidates at this stage,” Gingrich said. “We have a lot of people around the country who would like to have somebody who represents a commitment to replace the current failed programs and to develop a set of solutions that are practical and workable.”
Maybe, but he’s not on our list. We need fresh faces – constitutional conservatives ready to do battle against the ills left by the departing administration.
Good luck to Newt in his endeavors. Maybe his familiarity will carry his message for a time, but I see him dropping out early on.
I always wonder about peoples motives in running for office. Do they really believe themselves the very best person for that job or is it a power/money play? Are they a true visionary and leader or would it be better for the country if they dropped out and supported someone else? And how much sense and humility will it take to do so?
We’ll see.

President Newt. [snortle]
Uh, sorry there, Mr. Gingrich. But no, thank you.

Yeah, Newt had his day and his chance. He ripped it with me long ago and now I find him disturbingly wishy washy, you never know which side of an issue he is going to come down on.
Listened to your boy Rubio talking to Glenn today. He did a fine job, yes he did.

I know what you mean about the wishy-washy thing…
…and speaking of…
I found that Rubio talks a good, conservative, game but votes pretty much as Crist does.

well that just sucks

That’s what I thought. I was *so* disillusioned. But what can one expect of a politician?

Newt lost me when he decided to side with Algore on glow bull wurming. The bull’s owner can deworm him, nobody needs to freeze in the dark in a two room apartment while Algore buzzes around in a boat bigger than my effing house.
So, to Hell with Algore and fuck Newt runnin’.

Amen, brother!

Sadly enough, Newt’s image represents too many things that are wrong with the Republican Party. If the GOP is going to survive and take back the gov’t from the Dems, some drastic changes need to be made and one of them is dumping wishy-washy blowhard old farts like Newt. Makes people think too much about Pat Robertson.

Yep, Newt’s old school. A lot of people now believe that anyone who has been in DC for any length of time at all needs to leave. Get the hell out – you’re corrupted!
