Hubby needs to exchange the gift I gave him: an RC plane. If I’m going to be truthful, his needs and wants weren’t even a factor when I picked it out; my only thought was the inevitable look of surprise and happiness on his face when he opened it Christmas Eve.
I got that, in spades. So it was my gift as well. And he loves it, but the prop popped right off. As they will.

Yesterday we five -Arthur, me, John, YsD and wee Angus- toddled off to Miami in order to celebrate Christmas with the rest of the clan.

Amber, at 3, is the only child still young enough to really enjoy Christmas and all that it entails. The other two, bless ‘em, are into the gifts, especially the gameboys and such. PSPs. Whatever. They don’t even glance up when we come in the house, bringing back memories of an apple-cheeked little boy joyfully shouting ‘Grandpa!’ and running into Arthur’s arms every time we appeared on the scene. They grow up so quickly. At 9 and 10 they seem even older, their own people now.
But Amber… she’s still ours, at least for another couple of years. Then we’ll have wee Angus for a few years.
Without the joy and wonder of an innocent child’s Christmas…

If you haven’t already, be sure to read Joan’s Christmas trilogy, starting here. You won’t be sorry.
The day was hot and wet in Miami and the hibiscus blooms were lovely.

I have a sinus infection, so things are a little disjointed right now… I’ll be back…

Snow…snow…snow…

Y’all had snow? That’s nice for a bit, then I’d want to get warm again… LOL!

We were snowed in.

Oh, Pam, I forgot to mention, that girl is such a cutie. I have about five or six of my nine grandsons that are about the right age for her if you want to arrange a marriage for the future, all bright, sturdy boys from good American stock.

I’d be pleased, Peter! Except OD would beat me about the head and shoulders…
Amber is a very intelligent, vivacious little girl, with a big heaping helping of sweetness. Last time we were there she stepped on my toe. My eyes widened, but I didn’t say anything. That’s what kids do, right? She saw my face, surmised what had happened and flung herself on me, saying: “I’m so sorry, Nana!” then she *kissed* my dang toe!
At nearly 3. Sweet girl.
Wouldn’t it be nice if she and your grandsons at least met?

My sinus infection is back, too. Blech. Oh well.
As for the joy and splendor of Christmas through the eyes of a child — as long as you can…hang on to it!

Hope you feel better, Joanie!
