Afghan War Tax

Military, Politics

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Dave Obey and Representative John Murtha want a War Tax tacked on to our income tax to pay for the Afghan war, starting in 2011.

Happy group of old assholes.

Happy group of old assholes.

“Regardless of whether one favors the war or not, if it is to be fought, it ought to be paid for,” the lawmakers, all prominent Democratic allies of Obama, said in a joint statement on the “Share The Sacrifice Act of 2010.”

“The only people who’ve paid any price for our military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan are our military families,” the lawmakers said. “We believe that if this war is to be fought, it’s only fair that everyone share the burden.”

If the war is not paid for, its costs “will devour money that could be used to rebuild our economy by fixing our broken health care system, expanding educational opportunities and job training possibilities, attacking our long term energy problems and building stronger communities,” they said.

As the last paragraph illustrates, these three big dog Dems have a problem spending money on defending ourselves, preferring the funds be funneled into ‘healthcare reform’ or ‘job training possibilities’. Has anyone checked on the status of the last stimulus and where that money is being funneled?

Fact is, we already pay enough in taxes and those monies are supposed to be funding the DOD and everything they need… Of course, who could plan for Doc Utopia’s Wild Stimulus Ride?? The bailouts? The list is endless. You can’t give away billions of dollars that you don’t have.

These fools know they can’t get this legislation passed; they’re making a statement by appealing to our weak spot: our military.

Just drop the bullshit, guys. It only serves to make you look more inane and ridiculous than you already do…

I couldn’t read the post as I’m still gagging from the photo. :flag:

For once, I don’t have a problem at all with the tax they propose. I think they (Democrats and all the varied flavors of Marxist, Socialist and otherwise liberal Left) SHOULD pay a price for our security and fighting the war. Provided, of course, that it is fairly collected only from those who have not already paid their generous share. No double-tapping of military and their families, who have already VOLUNTARILY fronted the greatest sacrifices made to date. I’m sure someone can explain to them the concept of “sweat equity.”

I guess this means that belts are going to have to get very tight in Berkeley.

    Here’s my thinking…

What if the Obamessiah really, really wants to abandon the Afghans, like right now?…

What if he convinces his Dumbcrap henchmen that the only way this is going to be palatable to us bitter folk clinging to our Bibles and our guns is to tell us we have to pay for it from our own pockets because “their” money is all tied up with creating an socialist state and fake jobs?…

Be interesting how he spins the “no new taxes for anyone making less than $250K” though…

I see where you’re going with that… and I don’t think people would take a stand against taxes if it’s ‘helping the troops’. Problem is, what would the money really be used for??

This administration is a disorganized bunch of immature, self centered turds. Think every silly college movie you’ve ever seen, then make the head moron POTUS.

They’re also eaten up with left hand/right hand disease. BAD. If the dirty three are testing the waters with their little faux bill I do wonder what will happen on the floor…

Frank looks that way because he’s constantly taking it it in the caboose…

    LITERALLY…

I’m pretty sure that those three sumbitches can only smile if a conservative’s kid gets run over by a bus.

  7. Da Goddess Says:

Hey, look at it this way, Pam, if we don’t maintain a presence in Afghanistan, it sends a signal to every terrorist group in the world that we’re weak and ripe for the taking. So, they come over here and do what they did on Sept. 11 (again and again and again and again) and at that point, we won’t have to worry about how our tax dollars are being spent because we’ll be dead or living in a brand new hell with brand new leadership.

Did I give the impression that I want to withdraw from Afghanistan? I’d druther our troops stayed there and fought the war there. Oh, hell, yeah.

I just don’t appreciate the fact that these three assholes are using the war to make a statement about what they think is important.
